1. What does your company do?

We are a developer and manufacturer of power dense, high efficiency brushless permanent magnet electric motors, generators and power electronic controllers for the automotive, aerospace, medical, military and industrial markets.  Our major emphasis is developing products for the alternative energy technologies sector including power systems for electric, hybrid electric and fuel cell electric vehicles, under-the-hood power accessories and other vehicle auxiliaries and distributed power generation applications.

2. I heard UQM recently achieved a motor performance breakthrough.  What is the breakthrough?

We recently developed and successfully tested a permanent magnet electric motor system that achieves a 10 to 1 constant power speed ratio (CPSR).  The newly developed system provides both high torque and high speed capability in the same machine at levels greater than that of other motor technology.  In addition, we developed a new method of control for our permanent magnet motor and generator systems that enhances their performance. The performance enhancements include increases in peak power of 33 percent and continuous power output of nearly 100 percent. Also, we improved system efficiency at various operating points from 2 to 8 percent.

3. I need a custom motor and/or power electronics unit that must be very efficient, compact, and light weight. Can UQM develop this system for me?

5. Are your manufacturing operations quality certified?

Yes. UQM Power Products, our motor manufacturing division, is ISO 9001:2000 certified.

6. I am converting my car into an electric or hybrid electric vehicle.  Can I buy one of your motors for my project?
