William G. Rankin, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Rankin joined UQM Technologies, Inc. in February 1992 as Executive Vice President and was promoted to President in 1996 and CEO in 1999. He is responsible for overall company operations, including its wholly owned subsidiary, UQM Power Products (motors) located in Frederick, Colorado.

Before joining UQM, Mr. Rankin was employed by Deere & Company for 16 years and was responsible for Computer Integrated Manufacturing worldwide for Deere's complete line of equipment and vehicle products. He established and was General Manager of a new business venture - Deere Tech Services - that served clients including Jaguar Motor Company, GM Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac Division, Motor Coach Industries and the Boeing Company.

Prior to joining Deere & Company, Mr. Rankin served as chief of the Weapon System Simulation and Technology Division at the U.S. Army's Rock Island Arsenal, as a military operations research analyst developing combat simulation models at Booz Allen & Hamilton and as a 1st Lieutenant combat engineering officer in the U.S. Army, including with the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam where he was awarded a Bronze Star with first Oak Leaf Cluster.

Mr. Rankin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Mathematics from the Colorado School of Mines in 1965. He later received a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. He is a member of a number of technical societies, has made numerous presentations at national conferences and symposia and is often called upon as an industry spokesman on alternative energy technologies.


Donald A. French, Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. French joined UQM Technologies, Inc. in 1987 as Controller and assumed the additional title of Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer in 1998. Mr. French is responsible for the Administration, Finance, Accounting and Investor Relations functions of the Company.

Before joining UQM, Mr. French was a practicing certified public accountant. Earlier in his career, Mr. French was Vice President and General Manager of Gaechter, Inc., an importer and distributor of ski apparel and eyewear. Prior to that he was Supervisor of Financial Accounting and Financial Analyst for Husky Oil Company, a multi-national oil and gas company, and a practicing certified public accountant for various public accounting firms.

Mr. French earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting from the University of Florida in 1977. Mr. French is a licensed certified public accountant in Colorado and Wyoming and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado and Wyoming Societies of Certified Public Accountants.


Ron Burton, Executive Vice President of Operations
Mr. Burton joined the Company in 2004 and is responsible for all engineering and manufacturing activities.

Prior to joining UQM, Mr. Burton was Vice President of Engineering and Sales for Stature Electric, Inc. and for the 12 years prior to that was Director of Engineering and Operations for Globe Motor Company.

Mr. Burton earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Morehead University in 1976.

Jon Lutz, Vice President of Technology
Mr. Lutz joined UQM Technologies, Inc. in 1993 as a Motor Design Engineer and assumed the additional responsibility of Director of Engineering in 2000. Mr. Lutz is responsible for all engineering activities of the Company including motor engineering, electronic and software engineering and vehicle integration engineering. Mr. Lutz has authored and published numerous technical papers, has taught courses on motors and controllers, and is the inventor or co-inventor on several of the Company’s patents.

Before joining UQM, Mr. Lutz worked with Manufacturing Engineering at Micro Motion, a division of Emerson Electric. He was also a Power Distribution Analyst at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).

Mr. Lutz earned Bachelor of Science and Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering in 1991 and 1993, respectively, from the University of Colorado. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
