FREDERICK, COLORADO, DECEMBER 3, 2007…UQM TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (AMEX:UQM), a developer of alternative energy technologies, announced today that its compact and lightweight 25 kW generator and its recently introduced 150 kW propulsion system will be showcased at EVS-23, the world’s largest symposium and exhibition for electric, hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid electric and fuel cell vehicles, on December 2nd through 5th in Anaheim California. The 25 kW UQM® liquid-cooled generator, which is a compact 186 millimeters (7.3 inches) in diameter by 200 millimeters (7.75 inches) in length, weighs a meager 22 kilograms (49 pounds) and operates at 340 volts DC with a narrow plus or minus 2 volt DC regulation tolerance at operating speeds of 4,000 to 6,500 r.p.m. The generator is designed to be gear driven from an internal combustion engine and has a maximum speed rating of 11,000 r.p.m. The generator and its advanced CAN compatible liquid-cooled control electronics will be on display in booth number 776 at the exhibition. On December 5th at 8:30 a.m., Jon Lutz, Vice President of Technology, will make a presentation during an auditorium session of the symposium on the Company’s recently introduced 150 kW (201 horsepower) peak power permanent magnet electric propulsion system. The propulsion system has a continuous power rating of 100 kW (134 horsepower), delivers peak torque of 650 N-m (480 ft-lbs) and continuous torque of 400 N-m (295 ft-lbs) and has the highest power density of any of our propulsion systems. The system also features optimized four-quadrant performance, on-the-fly torque, speed and voltage control, and system energy efficiency of over 90 percent over substantially all of its performance regime. “These products represent the latest advances of our technology and offer industry leading packaging, performance, power density and efficiency. The 25 kW generator is ideally suited for export power or as the prime power source for the electrification of under-the-hood auxiliaries, both of which do not require a large amount of additional batteries on-board the vehicle. As a result, we have seen tremendous interest in this machine since its introduction for potential use in conventional vehicles produced by both military and commercial vehicle makers. The system is also being used in hybrid electric vehicle applications. Likewise, our 150 kW propulsion system has dramatically greater power density than our last generation of permanent magnet motors, and will allow us to pursue additional market opportunities for those vehicle platforms with higher power requirements that we were previously unable to service, such as larger trucks and buses,” said William G. Rankin, UQM Technologies’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are pleased to present these technologically advanced products to potential new customers during the EVS-23 exhibition.” The International Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exposition (EVS) series, organized by the World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA), has long been recognized as the premier event for business, technology, policy and academic leaders involved in electric drive technologies. Today, the EVS series is recognized as the global electric transportation industry's premier and largest forum, showcasing all forms of technologies in the market place and on the drawing boards- from low speed battery electric vehicles to fuel cell electric buses. EVS-23 will host over 1,200 delegates from 37 countries, 125 exhibitors representing all facets of the industry and more than 100 media professionals from around the world.
