Power Electronics and Controls Development We have extensive experience in developing power electronic motor controllers, inverters, dc-dc converters and control software for a variety of applications to meet tough automotive requirements. Our power electronics and controls department has developed numerous
proprietary design and analysis computer programs for controller design
and analysis. One example is a detailed mathematical model of a motor
controller that we have developed and refined over the last decade. This
model accurately predicts the controller’s performance including
losses and device operating temperatures over a wide range of environmental
conditions. The analysis results from these models are utilized to size
the hardware design requirements and controller’s cooling system.
In addition to its proprietary design tools, our power electronics and
controls department uses a variety of commercial software packages including
P-CAD for schematic capture, PCB design and auto routing; Micro-Cap We also have extensive capability and computerized tools for developing electric motor/generator control applications using digital signal processors (DSPs). DSPs have enabled us to broadly expand our motor control capabilities by utilizing more sophisticated algorithms. The utilization of DSPs allows us to design more compact hardware, translating into lower manufacturing costs. The software and DSP development tools we use include compilers, assemblers, linkers and source-level debuggers for developing applications on Motorola microprocessors and Texas Instrument’s DSPs. Our power electronics development laboratory is outfitted with the latest
fabrication, test and debug equipment and has the capability to build
and test prototype analog and digital circuits and power systems. If you would like to speak to us about a new program or for more information, please contact us at sales@uqm.com or 303-278-2002. |
