The SMG system was designed to improve performance, reduce cost
and improve reliability of the typical internal combustion engine
(ICE) through the integration of a multi-purpose electromechanical
machine (motor/alternator) in conjunction with engine flywheel. This
system will start the engine, generate 42 VDC accessory power, and
provide power boost. The SMG system provides the following features:
